SERIES: Instinctual Energies and the Enneagram Subtypes | March 6-27, 2018

The instinctual energies drive us to seek survival, intimacy in one-to-one bonding, and social belonging and are expressed through our Enneagram Type where they affect our behavior in the arenas of relationship to oneself, to another individual and to social groups. Observation of these “subtype” behaviors can assist greatly in identifying the movement of the instinctual energies that give rise to the behaviors. Exercises, practices and dialogue will help participants to identify and deepen their understanding of their subtypes and how their subtype placement of attention affects their behavior and relationships. The intent and focus of the work is to help participants become aware of their instinctual energies and to open the body center to the experience of essence.   The class is presented in 4 weeks of 2- 2 ½ hour sessions. Students need to be familiar with the Enneagram system by taking the basic level classes Foundation of the Enneagram of Personality Types and Foundations of the Enneagram Subtypes or other preparation, but do not have to have taken the other classes in this series.     EVENT DETAILS | REGISTER HERE When: March 6-27, 2018 Time: Tuesday Evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Where: Room H-5 Cost: $100 for the four-week, 10 hour course | Membership Discounts Apply REGISTER | Click HERE To apply for a Scholarship, click HERE Register by Phone: Contact Sheila at 602-888-1381 or by...

Introductory Tour of the Types

Introductory Tour of the Types

Presented by Jaye Andres Have you ever wondered why others don’t see things the way you do? How we view the world and respond to it is based on the viewpoints of our personality types and the patterns formed by them, combined with our own unique “essential self”. What is the Enneagram (pronounced Any-a-gram)? It’s a powerful overview of 9 distinct personality types; each with its own strengths, challenges, motivations, and positive paths for growth. Taught worldwide, it crosses gender and cultural lines. What can the Enneagram do for you? Know yourself as never before; learn about others; enhance communication skills; make better decisions; resolve conflicts-internal and external; respond better to challenging situations; improve your relationships. In this 3 hour Introduction, in addition to an overview of the system, you will learn about the motivational core set- up of each of the nine types. And, since there’s no better way to learn than from the types themselves, you will hear from 3 exemplars of each type (via video). By the end of this introduction participants report that they have either found their type, or have it narrowed down to two. For those already familiar with the Enneagram this intro serves as a powerful review and delivers further understanding of the types. This class is $25 as a standalone class, or this class is included in the registration fee for our Spring Workshop with Michael Goldberg on April 21-22, 2018.     REGISTER TODAY | CLICK HERE EVENT DETAILS When: April 20, 2018 Time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Where: Paradise Valley United Methodist Church | H-1 Cost: $25 for standalone class, or this class is included in the registration fee for the workshop. AEA 2018 Spring Workshop | An Enneagram Odyssey: Journey Beyond the Story of your Type with Michael Goldberg | April 21-22, 2018

An Enneagram Odyssey: Journey Beyond the Story of your Type Special Guests: Michael Goldberg “Every journey has a secret destination of which the traveler is unaware.” –Martin Buber Deeply rooted in ancient tradition, the ennea-types are stories that we tell ourselves and each other about how we make our place in the world and what really matters. Ultimately, these stories are about finding our way Home, to who we really are and what we may become. These stories have been told since the earliest days. In Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus meets each of the 9 types in numerical order. With precision, wit and affection, Homer cuts to the heart of type. In this highly interactive workshop, we retell The Odyssey, along with other teaching stories from myth and tradition, for their unconventional insight into how our ennea-type comes to be, and what to do should you “get one.” Participants will take away a fresh look at the patterns of type; a compelling take on the ennea-types as stories which create deep connection to the life of each type; and a framework to engage this perspective for oneself and as teachers and guides for others. This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience with the Enneagram. No prior familiarity with myth is necessary. Michael Goldberg has taught the Enneagram worldwide for thirty years. He is the author of The 9 Ways of Working and Travels with Odysseus. He consults with the Enneagram to organizations including the Central Intelligence Agency, Honeywell, South African Airways, and TopHuman (China). He has been on over a hundred television and radio programs, including Fox News Channel, CNN, CBC (Canada) and ABC (Australia.) Michael has taught at graduate schools of law, management and psychology. He was an attorney at the now famous US Office of Government Ethics. AEA SPECIAL TOPIC: 9 Paths Through the Eyes of Love with Renee Siegel on June 16, 2018

9 Paths Through the Eyes of Love Special Guest: Renee Siegel Each of us yearns to be heard, understood and loved. Each of the Enneagram Types may demonstrate these needs differently. In order to get these needs met, we will explore each of the Types ways of attempting to get these needs met. Topics explored will include foundational self-awareness and self-love, unconditional positive regard, loveology and 9 paths through the 5 love languages. In this workshop you will learn: How to identify blind spots and triggers in their communication style. How to identify how their Type has both assets and challenges in getting their needs met for being heard, understood and loved. How to identify one of their love languages. Renee Siegel has been an integrative wellness provider for over 35 years. She was originally educated as a Marriage and Family therapist and began to question why people hold onto their patterns of thoughts, feelings, behaviors and illnesses. She is a licensed mental health counselor, licensed massage therapist and certified holistic healthcare practitioner. She was introduced to the Enneagram almost 10 years ago and it was “love at first sight and a game changer”. Since that time she has been an avid student of the enneagram. She specialized in 3 areas in using the enneagram: • Integrating Wellness Practices into Treatment • Improving Relationships both personally and professionally • Recovery from Substance and Process Addictions Renee has finished filming an addiction series where she has interviewed all nine types, each having both a substance and process addiction. AEA SERIES: Habits of Emotions and Defenses

AEA SERIES: Habits of Emotions and Defenses

The defense system is made up of unconscious habits that serve to protect our view of ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. The awareness and loosening of these defensive barriers leads to greater spiritual, psychological and emotional freedom. The objectives of this course are to deepen our understanding and awareness of the habits of emotion and how the defense mechanism, avoidance and projection of one’s worldview support the habits of emotion of each of the Types. Class format is highly interactive and includes exercises, practices, and dialogue that awaken the intuitive knowing of the Inner Observer and qualities of the life force. Topics include the passion, Virtue, defense mechanism, projection and avoidance of each of the Enneagram types. This is the second class in a series on reducing the barriers to spiritual freedom. Students need to be familiar with the Enneagram system by taking Foundations of the Enneagram of Personality Type or other preparation, but do not have to have taken the first class in this series (Type as False Identification.) It is typically presented in 5 to 6, 2½-hour weekly sessions.     EVENT DETAILS | REGISTER When: TBA Time: 6:30 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Where: Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, Room TBD Cost: $150 for this 15 hour, six-week course Register by clicking here soon Register by Phone: Contact Sheila at 602-888-1381 | or by...

AEA SPECIAL TOPIC: Moving Beyond the Triggers & Blind Spots of your Personality Presented by Jaye Andres on February 25, 2017

AEA SPECIAL TOPIC: Moving Beyond the Triggers & Blind Spots of your Personality Presented by Jaye Andres on February 25, 2017

Moving Beyond the Triggers & Blind Spots of your Personality Presented by Jaye Andres Do certain people or situations push your buttons? Do you get feedback from others about your behavior that you just don’t understand? Do you keep running into the same issues over and over again in you relationships? Triggers and blind spots could be the cause. Triggers are those things that “set us off” into reactivity. They prevent us from responding to situations in a present, balanced manner. Each of us, because of our particular world view, is predisposed to certain triggers. When someone pushes one of our trigger buttons most of go into automatic patterns of behavior that are counterproductive. Our perception of what is really happening becomes skewed. The tendency is to think the other person caused us to feel what we’re feeling rather than to recognize that we always have a choice in how we respond to any situation. Intricately tied up with triggers are blind spots – those challenging behaviors that others see in us but we don’t. (We can also have blind spots about our positive traits.) Both triggers and blind spots keep us from leading a full, free and rich life. In this highly experiential workshop you will learn to:   Recognize your personal physical cues of being triggered Respond from conscious choice rather than unconscious reactivity  Be present and engaged in life Learn how to interact with others in ways that won’t trigger them Shine the light on your blind spots and move into your strengths   Knowledge of your Enneagram of Personality Type is helpful, but not necessary, for this workshop.   Biography: Jaye Andres, MBA, is a certified Enneagram professional, a “founding mother”, past president and current Executive Director of the Arizona Enneagram Association. As a life coach and consultant, her passion is to assist others in raising their self-awareness and move past limiting beliefs & habits to live a fuller, freer, richer and more peaceful life. She also facilitates workshops with groups and organizations on personality type, team building, conflict resolution and leadership development.  REGISTER HERE EVENT DETAILS When: Saturday, February 25, 2017 Time: 9:00 a.m – 1:00 p.m. Where: Paradise Valley United Methodist Church 4455 E. AEA SPECIAL TOPIC: Exploring the Harmony Triads with Carole Whittaker on March 25, 2017

AEA SPECIAL TOPIC: Exploring the Harmony Triads with Carole Whittaker on March 25, 2017

Exploring the Harmony Triads       Special Guest: Carole Whittaker Many Enneagram teachers and experienced students have observed a strong relationship between Types Two and Five and between Types Four and Seven, lines that would appear to be “hidden” on the Enneagram diagram of personality types.  When represented as an Enneagram diagram  the relationship of Types One-Seven-Four and Types Eight-Five-Two as well as Types Nine-Six-Three appear as three triangles rather than the familiar Nine-Six-Three triangle and One-Four-Two-Eight-Five-Seven “star-like” figure so familiar to the Enneagram of Personality Types.  The observation has become so frequent that Dr. David Daniels has dubbed this the “Harmony Triads.”  What is this observed relationship disclosing?  Might it be a key to transformation beyond Type? In working with students in their experience of the Holy Ideas, we have observed the transformative effect on their lives of experiencing Holy Love, Holy Faith and Holy Hope.  Recently we have seen more clearly the same transformative effect in all of the Harmony Triads of the influence of the Holy Ideas on their experience. These include a deeper and more authentic sense of self, an enhanced sense of  life-force energy, an easing of reactivity resulting in a greater sense of freedom. Are you attracted to deepening these qualities in yourself? This class is an invitation to join in an exploration of the unfolding of human consciousness that includes and transcends Type.  It will include some didactic teaching to get us started and lots of conversation in pairs and small groups.  We will consider some practices that may help to develop capacities for experiencing these higher qualities and we will observe the experience of exemplars in panel interviews.  Given sufficient time, we will consider the Harmony Triads as representing a transition toward both-and consciousness rather than an exclusive either-or, dualistic, consciousness. Although the material in this class is directed toward experienced Enneagram students, everyone is welcome to attend and will benefit from participating in this class. Carole Whittaker, PhD, is an Enneagram Teacher in the Narrative Tradition trained through the Enneagram Professional Training Program with Helen Palmer and David Daniels. In addition to teaching the Enneagram since 1996, Carole has developed an extensive curriculum of Enneagram programs for helping students understand and move beyond their personality type.  Carole is an experienced educator currently specializing in adult spiritual formation, leading retreats for women and providing spiritual direction for individuals. Carole was a founding member of the Arizona Enneagram Association and former member of its Board of Directors.   She is currently a professional member of the AEA. AEA Series: The Virtues

AEA Series: The Virtues

Explore the Virtues of Your Heart… How do serenity, humility, truth and balance operate in your life? What about nonattachment, courage, sobriety, innocence and right action? How does hope, faith, and love show up in your life? Discover practical ways to work through the barriers to spiritual freedom, thus, opening the path to maturity, individuation, and higher consciousness. The Virtues described by the Enneagram are qualities of the life force and are experienced in everyday life when our life force is well balanced. The Virtues are always present even though we may not have direct experience of them, particularly when we are in the reactivity of our passion. This class works with identifying the experience of the passion, and with relaxing into the contraction that holds it in place, instead of fighting it or fleeing from it. You will accomplish a deep, personal examination of your own emotional pattern and its conversion to the corresponding virtue through exercises, meditation practices, and dialogue. Participation in this class requires that students are familiar with the Enneagram system and have developed a capacity for inner observation. Ideal preparation includes the AEA classes identified for Stage 1 and the Barriers to Spiritual Freedom Series. It is typically presented in six, 2½ hour weekly sessions.     EVENT DETAILS | REGISTER When: TBD Time: 6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m Where: Paradise Valley United Methodist Church | Room TBD 4455 E Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253 Cost: $150 for this 15 hour, six-week course; To apply for a Scholarship, click HERE to attend.
